Project Rice has come to a conclusion.
The experience was great i guess, so i'll probably sign up for the next one, if any.
Anyway, i took some pictures there but haven't uploaded.
What i did this weekend:On Saturday...Bags and bags of rice arrived at republic poly W1.
The team and i helped to repack the rice and remove the weevils,
WORMS, ants and some unidentified bugs.
Pt was busy moving the rice packets in a neat arrangement so she ended up quite sticky and sweaty.
Some rice packets were disgusting.(almost 5% of weevils, some still crawling out of the packet)
The sight of the worms gave me those goosebumps.
All the girls sitting round me were initially squeamish about the insects.
We wondered if it were the bugs in our hair or merely a figment of our imagination.
So we sat there the entire Saturday to sieve the rice.
And i wondered if there were any easier ways to remove the weevils.
According to my mum, i can just leave the rice under the sun.
But there's like 800+ packets of 5kg rice..
I remember the most awkward situation was when i shouted "EH ARNOLD SPELL AS AROLD!!" when i saw a slip of paper with a name scrawled across it.
And i never talked to that person before, only tease xin yi and him.
Then he walked past.
Damn embarrassing.
(Xinyi was linked to him cos' they both had the same hairstyle= same character=matching)
On Sunday...I went there quite late and helped to sort out the rice
The memorable part came when pt teased '
ai zi ban ban jia ming'(his msn nick) as the
favourite sonThen everytime he'll reach out his hand like going to
touch pt's ear or maybe cheek.
Sounds like a
pervert right.
Somemore my first impression of him was that
he has the pervertic look.
I don't know if pt got touched by him in the end.
But i couldn't stop laughing when pt bullied him.
That ai zi ban ban jia ming only went "you all very childish leh".
Pt launched a riposte to that and replied "At least we still younger than you".
And there's still the ever-jealous kid called evan.
He got jealous when we completed the block before him last weekend.
He got jealous when we bought slurpee after we completed the block.
He got jealous again when we went back to republic poly.
He got jealous once more this weekend when he had no lunch.
There's also this irritating girl called Natasha who thought she did a lot.
She was slacking when we helped them to cover some blocks for publicity.
Then she even dared to show her 'attitude' merely because she had volunteered to carry an estimated 3kg of burden, which she probably regretted.
On the whole, i left the place with a little sadness though.
Cos' i think i'll never step into that place ever again.
And i'll never have all the fun back.
But i'll look forward to volunteering in the next nationwide event! (:
Anyway, i found it quite strange cos' every now and then, pt kept asking 'Where is xyz' or 'Xyz gone home alr arh ): '
Seems like there is a continuation to this project
*winks*

The Project Rice shirt looks quite awful. 1. Weird colour combination. 2. Poorly aligned red cross logo. 3. Prints too large; appearing quite unprofessional
